Vishal Verma, M.D.
Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Verma drives our vision – leveraging medical expertise and breakthrough technologies to revolutionize an industry in need. Dr. Verma’s extensive background in radiology combined with a passion for better workflows and solutions to improve patient care while lowering costs all started with a medical degree from the University of Miami. Dr. Verma served as a Chief Resident at the University of Chicago and then completed an MRI fellowship at the University of California San Diego. He is currently licensed to practice in all 50 states. Dr. Verma has a strong track record of entrepreneurship and enjoys the challenge of bringing new ideas to market.
Claude Hooton
President and Chief Operating Officer
With over twenty-five years of strategic, operational and corporate management experience within high-growth healthcare tech companies, Claude leads the commercial side of the business including finance & administration, sales & marketing, and client operations. Prior to joining the team, Claude managed the U.S. Sales Operations for Qualcomm Life, the healthcare division for Qualcomm Corporation. He also served as President of the PMB Real Estate Services division of Ventas REIT and as EVP / Board Member of Baxa Corporation, a global medical device company later acquired by Baxter International. He’s also held roles at Pyxis, Dura Pharmaceuticals, and Eli Lily. Claude holds a BS in Finance from San Diego State University, and a MBA from Harvard Business School.
Chris Burt
Vice President, Products
With over twenty years of engineering leadership experience solely in the healthcare informatics domain, Chris is an integral part of leading the engineering team.  Prior to joining NucleusHealth, he worked for IDX Systems Corporation, Dynamic Imaging, GE Healthcare and UPMC Enterprises in a variety of leadership positions in engineering management as well as product and program management. He has extensive experience in the healthcare industry and has led the development and launch of multiple new products within the medical imaging informatics domain. Chris has a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Akio Iwase
Vice President, Engineering and Data Science
Akio has worked in medical imaging for the last 20 years and has thrived in the crossroads of software engineering, data science and user experience for medical imaging and healthcare. Akio previously worked as Senior Director of R&D in TeraRecon, where he wrote engines for algorithm development such as 3D volume rendering, segmentation and diffusion tensor, as well as application developments in C++, and managed the team of engineers for their flagship Aquarius Workstation for a number of years. He also led a team of data scientists on deep learning on images and NLP on radiology reports. Most recently, Akio worked at Siemens as Director of Data Science and Engineering focusing on population health. Akio led a team of engineers and Data Scientists to create a system to identify incidental findings of lung nodules and follow up as a part of a larger cloud native system on Microsoft Azure, using cutting edge NLP to find, classify and apply the guideline as well as cloud platform. Akio has a BSc and PhD from Imperial College, University of London where he was shooting pieces of plastic with high power laser systems, comparing with radiation hydrodynamics computer simulations in his PhD. 
Rand Smith
Vice President, Finance and Administration
An experienced finance, accounting, and administrative leader with strong analytical skills and an excellent record of driving operational improvement, Rand oversees all financial aspects of our growth and operations. Prior to NucleusHealth, Rand was Director of Finance for Optum360, a leading provider of health care management services after leading A-Life Medical through its acquisition by the subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group. He was also the senior financial executive at iMetrikus, Inc., a health care technology and medical device start-up that focused on remote health care monitoring for patients with chronic conditions. Rand earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from San Diego State University.
Manal Schoellerman, M.D.
Partner and Medical Director
Dr. Schoellerman brings more than 10 years of hands-on, cutting-edge teleradiology and management experience to NucleusHealth. Manal’s leadership and drive for excellence have been integral to developing StatRad’s reputation as an outstanding provider of quality medical imaging interpretation. Dr. Schoellerman is credited with building and managing a team of top-notch radiologists, overseeing and optimizing daily operations, and developing a quality control program that ensures the highest standards of patient care. Dr. Schoellerman received her medical degree and completed her residency at the University of California Irvine where she served as Chief Resident, and was recognized as “Outstanding Resident.” Dr. Schoellerman completed her MRI Fellowship at the University of California San Diego.
Vincent Roth
General Counsel and Corporate Secretary
Mr. Roth is an experienced corporate attorney with over 15 years of expertise serving as General Counsel to public and private companies in the high-tech, healthcare, medical device, nutraceutical, and biotechnology industries – and very familiar with operating in highly regulated industries. Vincent recently completed a Master of Laws in IP at the University of San Diego with honors. He received a Master of Laws in Business and Corporate Law from the University of San Diego, as well as aa JD/ MBA from Temple University. Additional degrees include a Masters in Sociology from the University of Pennsylvania and a BBA in Marketing and Human Resources from Temple University.
